AFRICAN BOHEME TODDLER TRAVEL WEAR THIS

After flying on over 30 flights in the last two years with my daughter I’d like to think I’ve perfected the formula for what to wear during airplane travel with a toddler, enter, my travel uniform. Since I’ve discovered Little Gypsy Co I haven’t gotten on a plane, without throwing on one of their dresses, well I did once and I’m still regretting it. These dresses are cute and comfy and layer like a dream! They lack pockets, which means I never absentmindedly put something in them only to later forget said confiscated trinket in my pocket when going through TSA checkpoints

So if you’re not going to heed my advise and live in these bohemian babies, here are a few tips for getting yourself and your child dressed for an airplane ride

No pockets

any other type of travel this is the exact opposite of what I suggest, but air travel is an exception. Don’t get caught slipping. You will forget something in your pocket, you will sprout a new secret compartment of a pocket that is unable to be reached while juggling both baby and belongings, the aforementioned pocket will be sidled with all manner of metal paraphernalia.

Pockets are your enemy

 Loose

It’s tempting to throw on a pair of tights and call it a day, but those same super “comfy” tights will become your enemy around hour 4 of a long haul flight, cutting into and bunching up in ways you never knew were possible. Flying with a toddler inevitably means that going to the potty more times than is humanly possible. Having to free yourself of tights or denim while preventing curious little hands from exploring the airplane lavatory is an Olympic sport you don’t want to qualify for. Loose, airy garments let you appear to glide through the airport looking put together.

it’s so easy to wear this dress because it’s like the layering piece sent from heaven. For me I pile on the layers on top, for Noon I stuff heaps of clothes on underneath. We’ve gone from a North East winter to a South East Summer in these dresses, with very little fuss. Its all in the layering. Versatile pieces are the key to Bohemian Minimalism, they pack a punch alone but are perfect as an additional layer as well.

Breastfeeding friendly

I don’t know how people get on an airplane with a baby without breastfeeding, and let me tell you I don’t want to find out. Its the lynchpin in my lifestyle, making air travel a breeze. So all pieces of clothing are breastfeeding friendly

Matching

so as much as I love matching with my daughter because she’s my style icon when it comes to what should the baby wear on the airplane? Matching takes the guesswork out and serves double duty as a safety precaution. She moves like the wind and normally if there are no easily accessible exits I let her roam free. This inevitably leads to a moment where I’m watching her and she’s entertaining strangers. Only to have said stranger realize they’ve been entertained by a lone toddler for the last five minutes. They look around frantically my toddler continues to talk their ears off, they scan the crown lock eyes with someone dressed exactly like her, recognition and relief cross their face. All is right in the world and they go back to being charmed by my toddler overlord.
