Halloween Events for Kids near me, in Brooklyn

No longer being kids ourselves, it’s cool to be on the opposite end of Halloween events happenings. When done right you can actually get more free candy on this end. I mean you essentially get to make sure you hit all the full-size candy bar houses you want. My absolute favorite part about Halloween and having kids is that you get to be selfless in the very best way, by gorging yourself on sweets.

I mean in this day and age of rampant diet shaming and the quest to be the most granola parent around Halloween is in direct contrast to that, a relic holiday from the days of old. Nowadays where whole schools are nut-free to protect a select few kids with severe allergens, Halloween shoves fistfuls of nut laced candy into the hands of unsuspecting youth taunting them to test their parents and fate alike.

As the mom of a toddler, I am relatively new to the trick or treating game, previously there were strollers and it was pretty easy to duck past most of the chaos. But with a newly minted school-aged kid I figured this time I better be prepped and ready. And like most things that have to do with my maiden voyage into parenthood I’m clueless. I mean, what time is trick or treating? Where are the Halloween events for kids near me?
Fear not. I scoured the internet and picked the brains of parents near me that know all the Halloween events happening for kids in Brooklyn.

What follows is a list of kid-friendly Halloween events near me in Brooklyn that I wouldn’t mind trekking to on a school night (which rules out Greenpoint and Williamsburg off the bat)

What time is Trick or Treating for kids on Halloween?

Trick or treating usually kicks off about an hour after school ends, around 4 ok and runs to about 8. That gives just enough tune for kids to go trick or treating and enjoy varying degrees of Halloween spookiness as the sun, sets.

How to keep your kids safe during Halloween.

Stay in well-lit areas | Urge your kids to only approach houses with their pitch or front window lights turned on. I don’t live in a house but I imagine that people who don’t want to participate in the events of Halloween, spend the evening in their houses with all the lights turned off hiding from kids

Inspect all candy |Try not to eat the candy you collect until you get home. I like to keep a pocket full of pre-screened, often organic sugar-free candy, in my pocket to offer my daughter while we’re actually out trick or treating. She hates this but when the choice is between secret pocket cand and no candy she makes do with pocket candy.

Make them easy to find | its pandemonium there is probably going to be 43 kids in the exact same costume running for candy at warp speed. Tie a glowstick, to the kid that belongs to you, and pin your name andh phone number inside of their coat in case you get separated.
