How to be sustainable at home | Eco-friendly bedding
In these interesting new times, we’re spending more time and home and hopefully, more time cuddled up in bed burrowing into the bedding. After what feels like decades of co-sleeping we finally decided to spring for not only a big girl bed but an upgrade to our own situation. It’s been nearly a decade since either of us purchased bedding but it seems only right that its components should be in line with all our other sustainable home goods. So I set out in search of the most eco-friendly bedding.
Eco-friendly mattress
You spend so much of your time sleeping on your mattress. If you’re like me so much time living on it too, from impromptu dance stage or toddler cuddle zone. My number one goal was to have an Organic Mattress. I wasn’t planning on having a new life to cuddle but, now that they’re here and we spend twenty three hours out of the day cuddling and feeding in bed, I’m so glad I sprung for the organic mattress after all.
After scouring the internet I finally decided o going with the Awara Mattress in king size because it because it had a 365 day trial period and the absolute most organic materials that would serve as the perfect base for our eco friendly bedding.
The best-weighted blanket for adults
I think the best products join form with function and weave sustainable practices into their very fiber. This chunky knit weighted blanket is hands down the best-weighted blanket for adults as it stylishly ticks all these boxes. The limited edition mustard option I have is made out of a harmonic mix of organic cotton and polyester for balanced eco-chic done right. This design is made entirely out of responsibly farmed organic cotton.
I love the feeling of a weighted blanket its like a gentle hug for adults who nap often. My family members on the other hand hate the feeling of being wrapped up in this bedding. If you’re a fan of the chunky knit throw but feel a weighted blanket is akin to being buried alive try this one in mustard or this one for more neutral hues.
Sustainable Bedding
When it comes to dressing your bed the options are endless, from organic cotton, to fair-trade bamboo bedding. Linen is a simple hearty fabric derived from flax that is the go to choice for sustainable bedding. Linens durable fibers use far less water to manufacture. keep you warm in the winter and cool in the summer with make them one of those evergreen goods, and make them the perfect bedding choice to add a bit of luxury to your sustainable home.
It’s been my life’s dream to own linen bedding, the feel on your skin is unparalleled. After upgrading our mattress to a king size, I now have two sets of linen bedding, because laundry. I like the subtle differences of a non matching “set” so I like mixing and matching pieces to make the bed. A linen bedding habit is far from sustainable unless you’re growing a money tree in your back yard as my mom would say. However this linen fitted sheet set comes in many colors incase mustard is not your jam (are we even friends) and layers really well with this duvet set.
