Fun things to do in Staten Island, New York with kids
Like many native New Yorkers, I’m not familiar with Staten Island, and can probably count on one hand how many times I”ve been there before. Boy was I shocked to find out there are so many fun things to do in Staten Island. Staten Island looks like San Francisco and Houston had a baby and moved to Maryland. I viewed more American flags in one square block per than I’ve seen in any other city I’ve ever been in. It’s as if Staten Island no longer cares to prove its a part of New York, to the city itself but bypass the Big Apple and become a card-carrying member of…

New York City Kids |5 places for Camping with Toddlers
I don’t know if it’s just a certain age kid get to but right around two, every child I encountered in New York City was talking about camping. I’m pretty sure this has more than a little something to do with smores. As a child camping meant being shipped off to some faraway place to learn survival skills, however now that I’m a mom myself I started looking for something a little closer to home to quelch my toddler’s desire to sleep under the stars. What follows is an exhaustive list of all the campgrounds within New York City to take your kids to this summer. New York City has…

4 Vegan Smore Recipes
It’s summer here in New York, which means camping season is in full effect. For some, that means packing up the kids and heading outside the city limits but there are still a bunch of places to go camping within the city limits. In my opinion camping season is shorthand for eat-all-the-smores- you-can stuff-your-face-with season in my book. Smores are like pieces of magic you hold in your hands, but even they can get to be a little redundant so I’ve scoured the globe to find ways to reinvent the classic smore recipe. I prefer vegan smores recipes because the thing that makes most smores not vegan is Gelatin, which…

Sustainable City | Whittier California
Outside of Los Angeles and the Bay Area I’ve never truly adventured into California. Spending three days in the city of Whittier California I got the chance to see a different side of California. Whittier is a picturesque quiet city bordered by beautiful mountains with an abundance of lush rolling hills. If you time your visit right you’ll catch a glimpse of the biannual blooming Jacaranda trees, that pepper the sidewalks of the older neighborhoods. The trees, long ago imported from some far away land, are noticeable by their animated purple leaves that look ripped from the pages of a Doctor Seuss book. Whittier California is home to Whittier College…

I want to travel the world with my family
People ask me all the time why I want to travel the world with my family and if they have a moment, I tell them about my in-laws. They have the cutest relationship, my mother in law was raised in Benin, West Africa where the official language is French. My father in law, on the other hand, was raised in Nigeria, a neighboring country in West Africa where the official language is English. Neither of them speaks the other language, they converse solely in their tribal tongue of Yoruba. Their children speak a mixture of three languages to varying degrees in addition to all the other languages they know. My…

THE EGG HOUSE
Looking for kids attractions in New York City is a full time job. This Easter someone suggested this eggtastic adventure house to me. My husband purchased tickets on the first available day, which just so happened to be today. The Egg House was a fun way to spend a Sunday.
